This has been such a strange Spring market.  We keep waiting for the “rush” and it just hasn’t come.  There have been a few situations where houses came on and went to sealed bids right away – anything between $750,00-$1,100,000 – but mostly it is weeks before a house goes into contract. There are plenty of buyers out there, so sellers fret not.  Buyers have the luxury of looking… and are apparently still not feeling any sense of urgency. In the end, Darien is a good market for buyers and sellers.

There are some really fabulous houses on the market.

It is amazing how many clients we have that are looking for houses under $1 million.  Sounds great right? Well this spring market is not cooperating with us!  Believe it or not, there are only 12 houses on the market under $1million. This is an all time low. So we have all these eager buyers and there is so little to show them or what they love, ends up having 11 offers as was the case with 42 Ridgely Street. Needless to say it is just a bit frustrating!

88 Gardiner Street is a wonderful house, offered at $1,075,000! Can someone please explain why it hasn’t sold especially after we sold our listing at 60 Gardiner Street in just a few short days for close to ask at $1,070,000????? And that studio would be the perfect adult tree fort (aka backyard destination).

30 Hilton Street, offered at $789,000, needs work but could be a rewarding project, especially when we see where 36 Hilton Street closes (my latest favorite).

So if you are even thinking about it, now is the time to serious contemplate and plan to list your house.  Not sure you can go very wrong. Especially when we bring our eager clients!

A new year is upon us and we hope, new listings as well.  It has been a rather dull Fall market but the holiday was busy for us with the launch of our listing at 327 Middlesex Road. There were also 2 other listings that came on, 223 West Avenue (listed for $879,000 with Linda Terhune) and 25 Raymond Street (listed for $839,000 with Kate Balanoff). ACCEPTED OFFER!  Heard there were multiple bids.  Is this a sign of what the Spring market will bring?
